Learning English Through Culinary Traditions.
LEARN. COOK. CONNECT.
A launguage programme where learning happens around the kitchen table.
The Full English is an LGK project in development combining English language proficiency with cooking and sharing dishes that have British routes.

The Full English will incorporate Skills for Life learning, using food and cooking as a practical context for developing English.
Participants will build their speaking, listening, reading and writing skills through recipes, ingredients, cooking instructions and everyday conversations.
The aim is to make learning English practical, relevant and connected to everyday life, while working towards a recognised Skills for Life language qualification.
Our program blends language teaching with immersive cooking workshops. By following recipes and sharing food traditions, learners master English in a natural, high-impact kitchen environment. This unique approach builds essential communication skills and fosters cultural exchange, turning everyday interactions into powerful opportunities for language acquisition and community connection.
Our aim is to build a welcoming community of learners where people can develop their language skills, connect with one another, and feel more confident participating in everyday life. By helping to reduce language barriers, we hope to make it easier for learners to socialise, form meaningful relationships, and become active, valued members of their local communities.
Everyday English is at the heart of what we offer, using food as a welcoming way to bring people together while they build their language skills. We support people who are less confident speaking or understanding English, introducing useful everyday words and phrases they can practise in real-life situations. From asking for help in a shop or finding items in a supermarket to chatting with people in their local community, learners can develop the confidence to communicate more comfortably and take part in daily life.
Food plays an important part in shaping the identity of both individuals and communities, expressing shared histories, traditions, and values. At the same time, it can offer a welcoming way for people to become familiar with a new place and feel more at ease in unfamiliar surroundings. LGK believes that exploring British culture through food can help people from a wide range of backgrounds connect with their new community. By sharing meals, learning about local dishes, and discovering the stories behind them, people can find common ground, build relationships, and begin to feel that they belong.
